GaN Chargers Explained: 45W vs 65W vs 100W vs 140W
Looking for a GaN charger but not sure whether 45W, 65W, 100W or 140W is right for you? This simple guide explains GaN technology, how many watts you actually need for phones, tablets and laptops, and how to pick the right number of ports. All examples use genuine Honeywell Zest GaN chargers available at Karthik Computers, Chennai.
What is GaN and why it matters
GaN (Gallium Nitride) chargers use newer semiconductor technology that is more efficient than traditional silicon. For you, that usually means smaller chargers that run cooler, waste less power and can deliver higher wattage from a compact body. GaN works very well with modern fast-charging standards like USB Power Delivery (PD 3.0) and PPS. If you travel, use multiple devices or want one reliable charger for phone, tablet and laptop, a GaN charger is a practical long-term choice.
45W vs 65W: best for phones, tablets and light laptops
A 45W GaN charger suits smartphones, tablets and many thin-and-light laptops that ship with 45W or smaller adapters. Honeywell has two: the Zest 45W GaN (Platinum Series, from ₹1,617) with two Type-C PD 3.0 ports and PPS, and the Zest 45W GaN Ultra-Thin (Ultimate Series, from ₹2,470) in a slim body. Move to 65W if your laptop’s original adapter is 60–65W or you want more headroom. Honeywell’s 65W GaN options start from ₹2,106 and suit regular office laptops and faster top-ups.
100W and 140W: for power users and multi-device setups
If you use a high-performance laptop, or want one charger for laptop, tablet and phone together, look at 100W or 140W GaN models. The Honeywell Zest 100W GaN Charger (Ultimate Series, from ₹5,559) provides three Type-C PD 3.0 ports plus one USB-A. The 140W GaN Ultimate Series model (from ₹7,795) adds higher total output with 2x Type-C PD 3.0 and 2x USB-A, plus PPS support for compatible fast-charging phones.
How many ports and which Honeywell GaN charger to choose
Match ports to your daily carry. For a phone-only user, the Honeywell Zest 45W GaN Ultra-Thin (Ultimate Series) or Zest 45W GaN (Platinum, 2x USB-C) is usually enough. Need phone + occasional laptop? The Zest 65W GaN Platinum (USB-A + USB-C) is practical. Frequent travellers can consider the Zest 65W GaN (Ultimate Series) with dual USB-C and three interchangeable IN/UK/EU plugs. Multi-device users benefit from the Zest 100W or 140W Ultimate Series with extra ports for all their gadgets.

PPS (Programmable Power Supply) is an extension of USB PD that adjusts voltage and current in small steps, improving efficiency and reducing heat during fast charging.
