Bluetooth Speaker with FM Radio for Parents: What to Check

Bluetooth Speaker with FM Radio for Parents: What to Check

If your parents mainly want to listen to FM radio and a few saved songs without using a smartphone or internet, a simple Bluetooth speaker with built-in FM is ideal. This guide compares two FM speakers from Amkette, and briefly covers other Bluetooth-only speakers for music.

Key things elders usually need

When buying for parents or elders, focus on:

• FM that works on its own: The speaker should have an inbuilt FM radio that plays without any phone or data connection.
• Number-pad buttons: Big, clear buttons make it easier to change volume, switch stations or modes.
• Multiple inputs: USB, SD card and AUX/headphone options help them play music in different ways.
• Simple charging: A common charging port like Type-C is easier to manage.
• Reasonable battery life: So they don’t have to charge it too often.

FM speakers that work without a phone

This guide focuses on two compact Amkette speakers with inbuilt FM radio. Both can play FM stations directly, and both also work as Bluetooth speakers when you want to connect a phone.

Amkette Pocket Mate Bluetooth Speaker with FM – simple and convenient

The Amkette Pocket Mate is a compact Bluetooth speaker with inbuilt FM radio, so your parents can listen to radio directly on the device. It supports wireless music over Bluetooth, wired listening through a headphone jack for private listening, and playback from an SD card or USB as described in the product specs.

For elders, two points stand out: it uses Type-C charging, which is common on many modern chargers, and it has a number pad for easy control. Amkette mentions up to 8 hours of playtime, which is usually enough for a full day of light listening between charges.

This model is a good fit if you want a straightforward FM radio that can also play songs from SD card or USB, and occasionally connect to a smartphone over Bluetooth.

Amkette Pocket Blast FM Radio with Bluetooth Speaker – FM-focused extras

The Amkette Pocket Blast is also a compact speaker with built-in FM radio and Bluetooth for everyday listening. It is designed for people who mainly use FM but also want more control.

Two features make it more FM-focused than the Pocket Mate:

• Voice and FM recording support as mentioned in the product description.
• External antenna for better FM reception, which can help if your parents stay in an area where radio signals are weaker.

It also comes with a number pad control for easy operation, which is important for elders. Compared to the Pocket Mate, the Pocket Blast costs a bit more but adds the recording function and the external antenna, making it better suited if FM radio is the main use.

Choosing between Pocket Mate and Pocket Blast

Both Amkette models will let your parents listen to FM without a phone and also enjoy Bluetooth music. Use this simple checklist to decide:

• Budget first: If you want to keep the cost lower, the Pocket Mate (₹1,044) is the more affordable option.
• FM signal strength: If your parents often get weak FM reception, the Pocket Blast’s external antenna is likely the better choice.
• Recording need: If they are interested in recording FM or voice (for bhajans, talks, etc.), the Pocket Blast is the one that specifically supports this.
• Charging preference: If Type-C charging is important to you for using common phone chargers, that is highlighted on the Pocket Mate.

What about Bluetooth speakers without FM?

If your parents are comfortable using a smartphone for all audio, then a regular Bluetooth speaker without FM can be enough. Here are some Honeywell Bluetooth speakers in this category.

• Honeywell Moxie V200 Bluetooth Speaker 5W – a compact Bluetooth V5.0 speaker for daily music and calls, with TWS pairing support and multiple playback options, and a 1200mAh battery.
• Honeywell Moxie V210 Bluetooth Speaker – a compact portable Bluetooth speaker for everyday audio, available in Black and Blue.
• Honeywell Suono P300 Bluetooth Speaker 10W – a compact Bluetooth 5.3 speaker with 10W output, a 52mm driver for enhanced bass, and up to 9 hours of playtime as per the product description.
• Honeywell Suono P310 Bluetooth Speaker 10W – a compact portable Bluetooth speaker for home, office or travel, available in Black and Blue.

These Honeywell speakers are better suited to people who mostly stream music, YouTube or calls from their phone and don’t really use FM. For a wider view of options, you can also browse the Bluetooth speakers and soundbars under ₹5,000 sections on the Karthik Computers website.

Quick buying tips for parents and elders

• Check button layout: Plain, clearly labelled buttons and a number pad are easier than touch controls.
• Keep it light but not tiny: A compact unit that is easy to pick up, but not so small that the buttons or text are hard to see.
• Decide the main use: If 80–90% of the time is FM listening, pick one of the Amkette FM models. If most listening is from a phone, a simple Honeywell Bluetooth speaker is fine.
• Think about charging: If you already use Type-C chargers at home, a speaker with Type-C is more convenient.
